in the heart of Metamora

COME HUNT.COME SHOW. COME PLAY.

If horses and horse country are in your blood, there’s no place like Metamora, says Janine Klayman, the proprietor of  Crooked House Farm:  the new Barn, Bed and Breakfast in the heart of it all.

Located right  next door to the historic Metamora Hunt,  (and just a short hack from a variety of show grounds and several teaching facilities) Crooked House Farm boasts four charming antique filled guest rooms, three with private baths, and more. A big country table across which guests share the adventures of their day. A big wooden porch from which you can watch horses graze, relax, mingle, or even grill. A welcoming fireplace around which those with common interests can enjoy a brandy, or hot cider. And a sun room from which you can see the whole country world go by, including the famous Metamora hounds, horse drawn carriages, deer, and who knows, maybe even the fox.

Your horses will also enjoy the place, if you choose to bring them, as the barn boasts four ultra roomy stalls, and three paddocks complete with a run shed that guests horses are free to enjoy (weather permitting).

And no one, including the kids, will soon forget the other residents of Crooked House Farm: Oliver Leroy Fireball (the Head Honcho), Wishbone (the Love Cat) and Fred
and Junior (the resident Basset Hound and Saint Bernard respectively).

There’s also wireless internet access, a copier and fax machine, a DVD player and Satellite TV, for those who want to snuggle in and watch a movie at day’s end, or just want to do a little work.

As for the non-horsey among you, there’s plenty that guests can enjoy in and around town  (See Come Play). Including five golf courses, two specialty chocolate shops, some great shopping, hot air balloon rides, fine dining and casual fare, a sporting club for duck and pheasant hunting, several yoga retreats, and much much more.

But for those who can feel themselves cantering at the sight of a big open rolling field, and who jump for joy at the sight of a coop – there is nothing more magnificent than the nine square miles of horse farms and horse country you can ride thru in Metamora. And no more wonderful or memorable a place to begin or end each day, than at Crooked House Farm.
